MACEDON (ROMAN PROVINCE). Aesillas, quaestor, circa 95-70 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 33 mm, 16.78 g, 12 h), uncertain mint. MAKEΔON[ΩN] Head of Alexander the Great to right, with horn of Ammon over his ear; in field to right, monogram of BI. Rev. AESILLAS / Q Money chest, club, and chair; all within laurel wreath; in exergue, [B]. Bauslaugh Group III, O14/R83, h (this coin). Fisher Issue 2, O6/R16. SNG Copenhagen 1327. A fresh and lustrous piece with a particularly sharp obverse. Struck from a somewhat worn reverse die, otherwise, virtually as struck.
